|About Troop 251|
Based in the southwestern corner of Pennsylvania, about 20 miles east of Pittsburgh, Troop 251 has been a part of the Bushy Run District, Westmoreland Fayette Council, Boy Scouts of America, for over 35 years. Current membership includes boys from Irwin, Larimer, McKeesport, North Huntingdon, and White Oak. Our meeting schedule parallels that of the Norwin School District. Our summer schedule begins at the end of the Norwin school year, and our fall schedule resumes when Norwin returns to school.
The Troop enjoys a close relationship with its Chartered Organization, St. John's United Church of Christ, located at 1230 Brownstown Road, Larimer, PA. In addition to providing comfortable meeting rooms, St. John's also offers access to their recreation and kitchen facilities for Troop functions throughout the year.
When not at St. John's, members of the Troop can frequently be found enjoying the more rustic accomodations of Camp Conestoga, a part of the Eberly Scout Reservation, located in the heart of the beautiful Laurel Highlands.
Scouts and Scouters from Troop 251 support the Order of the Arrow, Wagion Lodge #6, and routinely participate -- both individually and as a group -- in many Scouting events and activities throughout the year.
Troop 251 welcomes boys, ages 11 to 17, who want to do more than just "hang out". If you think that camping, archery, skiing, hiking, or sailing may be more fun, bring your parents to our next meeting. If you think that leadership skills learned in Scouting may help you in the future, contact us. If you have any questions about Scouting, ask us. Or ... you could just "hang out" again this weekend.
